The few days before Sir and I were going to leave for Texas, we both screwed up our sleep schedule. We tried to get it all back on schedule but it just wasn't working out. On Wednesday, we got the car from Enterprise. There was a few bumps but it all worked out. We actually upgraded the car. The car that we were suppose to get was a Fiat but it was too small. We wouldn't have been able to pack all of our bags in the car. Instead of the Fiat we got a 2011 Hyundai Accent. Sir REALLY wanted to have satellite radio instead of just having a regular radio.
Once we got home, we packed the car with the bags that was set to go. All that was left was the cooler with our food. We went to bed around 8 or 9, cause we were both so tired and ready for sleep. Around 11, I had a coughing fit that woke Sir up and the both of us just couldn't go back to sleep anymore. Both of us watched tv for a bit and tried to sleep again but we ended up just saying " Fuck It." We got dressed, packed the cooler and left for Texas around 3 or 4 am.
We got on I-95 south and just kept on going. The road was pretty clear and we kept a good speed. We went around Richmond just in case of the morning traffic. We crossed the state line into North Carolina around 6. Once we got to a rest stop, we stayed there and took a nap. At 7 we headed out again. The whole trip was pretty much like that. We drove and listened to the Comedy channels. When we crossed a state line we got out and took a picture at the welcome sign. South Carolina took us a long time to get through. Sir was hit the wall of fatigue pretty hard. After lunch we drove for a while before he really needed to take a nap. He only slept for an hour before we headed out again. We got out of South Carolina and through Georgia. We hit the Florida state line as the sun was starting to set.
I had been texting mom was we hit each state and I finally got a reply from her. She wanted me to call dad cause he had been asking for me. It's Thursday and I usually go home on Thursday around the afternoon. So, I called him. I told him that John and I had just crossed the Florida state line and we were halfway to Texas. He just said, " Oh my goodness.... " He said to take care of myself and that was it. He had forgotten that I was going to Texas for Christmas. Either that or he really didn't believe me that I was going to disobey when he told me that I couldn't go. Silly Father.
Anyway, we got on I-10 and started the almost 900 mile drive to Texas. We stopped for dinner during the last few moments before the sun fully set. Sir planned to keep on driving till 10 pm. Then, out of nowhere the sky lights up. Why hello there lightning and rain! there were a few moments when there was rain, when it was lightly rain and when it was just pouring buckets. The speed limit on the Interstate was 70, when it was pouring buckets Sir went down to 50 and there were a couple of cars that were passing us.After a while, the rain finally just stopped and it was clear from then on. Then Sir remembered that there's a time change, part of Florida is in the Central Time Zone while the majority of it is in the Eastern Time Zone. So, when it felt like it was 9 pm it actually was just 8pm which totally sucks. Sir just kept on driving until we were just a few miles away from the state line. We stopped for the night at the Red Roof Inn. We showered and then went to bed. He wanted to start leaving at 6 and we were on the road again by 6:30. It didn't take long for us to get to the state line into Alabama. It only an hour or so to get through Alabama and the same thing with Mississippi. Louisiana took a good while to get through, we shifted onto I-12 to go around New Orleans. Once we got back on I-10, we were good to go for Texas.
I called Dad as soon as we got to Texas, he didn't pick up so I just left a voice mail. The drive in Texas was interesting. We were doing fine until we got close to the actual city of Houston. Sir went the wrong way and we continued on going the wrong way until he called his Dad for directions on how to get to this house. That's when the begining of the end of the good fun time we were having but that's another story. Anyway, I-10 and Route 59 shared a lane and whenever we got to the split off, Sir went on the split instead of going straight; which is the wrong way. I didn't say anything cause I thought he knew the way home, which was bad and wrong of me to assume. I forgot all about it as soon as I saw the actual city of Houston. Wow! It was like when I first saw Atlanta. Buildings are HUGE! I was so totally disappointed that my camera decided to just die! I wanted to take pictures of EVERYTHING! Sir said that there was plenty of time for me to take my pictures but my arguement to that is also a different story. So, after a while, he called his dad and then eventually we got to where we were suppose to be; had we not gotten lost we would've been there earlier.
I didn't feel nervous or apprehensive, I just was blah. I shook hands/hugged whenever I met a family member. I'm seriously hoping that the first impression was a good one. I was just so tired and hungry. I was also dirty and gross nasty from the drive. His step-mother, Janice, opened the door, so I met her first. Then came Kassidy hugging her Uncle John. Next was his dad, Mark, and somewhere along there I met Westie. I'm totally her, Westie's, new best friend. I'm sure she'll forget me soon after I leave. Anyway, I then met/saw Genevieve. Sir and I then unloaded some of things from the car and was shown where we were going to be sleeping. I got the guest bedroom and Sir got the air mattress in the library. I met more people after that, his step-sister Amanda and her husband, Jeremy, came to get their daughters. Then, Grann came by. It was interesting when I met Grann. I shook her hand and I think I also got a hug but I had the feeling that I should bow and be blessed in order to show respect. It would've been weird and definitely hard for me to explain why I did it, so I didn't.
Once everyone was there, they talked a bit before the dinner plan to go to Taco Bell/Long John Silver's was made. Amanda and her family joined us and then we all went to Walmart. Walmart was so huge! It wasn't just a Walmart but it was a SUPER Walmart. We were there for a long while and then we went to a neighborhood that Grann suggested to see Christmas lights. Once we got back to the house, I tried to get online and sort out the pics only to not be able to go online. Sucks majorly, I hope that I'll be able to get online at some point. This is killing me!!
